Cobruh - a fan interpretation of an old Spectrum game from 1986
A downloadable Bruh for Windows, macOS, and Linux
When I was young, I used to play this game, so so much, on the ZX Spectrum, I was good at it too! I could complete the game (which looped back to the start - but next loop it was all a bit faster) 3 times around! Playing it now, on an emulator with my middle age brain it was just SO DAMN HARD! couldnt get anywhere! but it made me want to play it, in a more modern setting, BUT, with the old style graphics and sounds.
I remade all the graphics pixel by pixel from screenshots of the original game, some of the tiles from the original needed altering, and I had to add some new ones for what I wanted them to do.
Screen can be 1x 2x 4x or fullscreen, yes 1x is 320x240!
Colours can be altered like the orginal, I'll let you find out its glorious!
Controls:
PC - WASD for movement, R. Shift for 'Murder' and Space to jump.
JOYSTICK also works Left Stick or D-Pad for movement Triggers for 'Murder'
and A to jump.
ANDROID - game has onscreen controls and touch works where mouse does on PC
(Not yet released - but exactly as PC though screen is autosized)
I know it sets a key for 'hold' but that was from the original define keys page of the original game, so I kept it, but havnt implemented it!
Game now has more modern mechanics, you can double jump, there are achievements and unlocks too. Crazy how much you see the changes that game have gone through when you play something from such a time ago, but I didnt want to loose that feel too much, I hope I found the right balance!
You can jump higher from a crouch (which can be a sliding crouch)
I have credited and linked to the original game and the amazing musician that is Martin Galway for the musical score, and FX that this game has. as well as to Johnathan Smith, the original programmer, the only link I could find to him was his YouTube channel and with further investigation, looks like he died quite a while ago, so sad. so I'd like to dedicate this remake of mine to his memory.

testing the export of linux and mac versions, please let me know what happens I have no way of testing these!
my SSD has started getting errors, luckily it didnt just go kaputt so Im able to salvage a lot of things, I do have multiple online storage options though so I tend to stick things on there as well.
Oh and I'm running on a new install of windows, having some hard drive problems, so its all signed differently, so the andriod version will not overwrite, you have to uninstall the old one, before installing the new APK.
found id done a wierd scale offset in the controls for touch screen in the 1.2.78 version, so ive corrected that. also altered the way the parralax scrolling is done as it had a little 'blip' when passing 0 that it shouldnt have done, what one frame can do eh. anyway android fixed now.
yeah I will add some levels today, I planned on having 12 currently it has the main standard 3 and a little one for the boss fight.
